Cambridge and Somerville providers

Second Chances provides clothing to homeless and low-income people in Cambridge and Somerville by working with local homelessness and social service agencies where they receive shelter and services. If you are a shelter or service provider located in Cambridge or Somerville, we would love to find a way to work with you to provide free clothing to your Cambridge and Somerville clients.

Second Chances' clothing donation program is unique in the way we work almost invisibly through existing service providers, so that the people who need clothing don't have to go one place for job training and another for benefits counseling and still another for clothing. We make their already difficult lives a little easier by delivering the clothing they need where and when they need it. This allows us to operate more efficiently as well - we can effectively reach hundreds of people who need clothing through existing homelessness and social service providers. We are specialized and flexible enough to be able to create individualized delivery options that meet your agency's needs and make efficient use of our limited staffing.

Clothing

rule

If your agency is located in Cambridge or Somerville, we are able to provide you with clothing for clients who are living or sheltered in Cambridge or Somerville as our resources allow. If you are interested in receiving specific items of clothing for your clients through Second Chances, we can work together to develop a system that will work for our organization and yours to best serve your clients' needs.

Please email us at clothing @ secondchances.org (close the spaces) first if we do not already have a relationship with your agency.

Second Chances provides clothing for people of all ages, sexes, and genders. Our clothing request form for adult clothing specifies women's and men's clothing because each is sized and styled differently. When requesting clothing on behalf of a client, please request the clothing they prefer.

Special individualized clothing programs

rule

We will consider proposals from Cambridge and Somerville agencies for unique and efficient ways to provide clothing for your clients who are living or sheltered in Cambridge or Somerville. For example, at one local shelter with fairly predictable clothing needs, we regularly deliver jeans, sweatshirts, and winter coats for their clients and take away other clothing donations that they are not able to use. At another program with less predictable, more emergency-like needs, we provide specific clothing for individual clients and families as the need arises.

Let's talk about what would work best for your organization and clients, and what will work for us. Please email us at clothing @ secondchances.org (close the spaces) about your needs and ideas.
