Simplify Your Wardrobe and Empower Our Community This Season
Fall is an ideal time to embrace change, starting with your wardrobe. As you declutter this season, please consider donating clothing, shoes, and wearable accessories you no longer need to Second Chances and give your clothing a second life while diverting textiles from landfill.

Thank You!
We’re honored and excited to share that Second Chances has been chosen as the Somerville Chamber of Commerce's 2025 Powderhouse Award Recipient for Non-Profit of the Year!
Please consider celebrating with our team - and an incredible group of Powderhouse Award winners and Chamber members - at the Holiday Inn Somerville on November 13th. This award is as much about our generous community as it is about our 20 years of collective impact, and none of this would be possible without our partners, including so many of you. Thank you for supporting our neighbors and our work for more than two decades!

Thank You, Volunteers and Partners!
September’s Volunteer and Partner Appreciation Ice Cream Social was a sweet success!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for an afternoon filled with delicious ice cream, laughter, and community spirit. Our volunteers and partners make it possible to support more than 1,000 neighbors in need annually with empowering, free clothing, and to protect our planet by reusing and recycling more than 300,000 pounds of clothing and textiles each year. As Andrea, our Founder & CEO mentioned, “Taking a break to connect with our community is an important way to sustain our work and collective impact. The work can be incredibly challenging, especially in recent years with so much need and uncertainty, and these moments of sweetness and celebration are more important than ever.”
A massive thank you goes out to Forge Baking Company & Forge Ice Cream Bar for hosting and to David for serving again this year. Forge's dedication to our community and commitment to our neighbors is truly appreciated! |
| Meet Jess
Jess was preparing for job fairs and interviews with a support provider, but faced a challenge with cooler weather: appropriate clothing. Receiving a thoughtfully assembled bundle provided not just clothes, but also confidence, dignity, and warmth, empowering her journey toward stability and self-sufficiency.
Since 2005, Second Chances has empowered more than 7,500 neighbors by providing clothing that helps folks feel confident, valued, and ready to chase their goals. These outfits are more than just clothes, they remove barriers to success, offering dignity, self-expression, and choice - one outfit at a time.
Thank you for making second chances possible for neighbors like Jess. We couldn’t do it without our generous community! |

Our two decades of good work pave the way for even greater impact, keeping clothing in circulation and continuing to support our neighbors.
