April is Earth Month–an entire month to celebrate our planet and take action to protect it. 

Twenty years ago, Second Chances was ahead of the curve in adopting circularity, turning waste into opportunity. Since then, our community of donors, volunteers, and neighbors have diverted 3.2 million pounds of clothing from landfills - reducing environmental impact while helping those in need.

This April, we’re making it easy for you to donate your spring cleaning to benefit our community and our planet with three public clothing drives in addition to our outdoor donation locations. Sustainability is a community effort and together, we’re protecting the planet–one piece of clothing at a time.

Please consider donating at one of the public clothing drives hosted by wonderful volunteers from our community!

Give your clothing a second life, support neighbors in need, and divert textiles from landfills.

• Coldwell Banker Realty Earth Day Clothing Drive (April 12 and April 13 in Cambridge from 2 to 4 p.m.)

• Naveo Credit Union Earth Day Clothing Drive (April 14 to 21 in Cambridge and Somerville)

• Hillman Homes Clothing Drive (April 28 to May 7 in West Newton)

In just three weeks, we'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary with our generous and compassionate community!

Join us on Tuesday, April 29 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Portico Brewing in Union Square, Somerville for a warm, fun community event featuring:

• Delicious local food from Taqueria El Barrio

• Craft beer and non-alcoholic beverages from Portico Brewing

• Dessert from Bedford Cupcakes

• Emcee Jason Mikell, WBZ/CBS meteorologist

• DJ Jimi Carter

• Gift bags

• And so much more!

Funds raised will enable Second Chances to build upon 20 years of impact, keeping clothing in circulation and supporting our neighbors in need.
