Promoting Sustainability Through Mending

This year, our staff wanted to engage our community in events that promote sustainability as it relates to textiles and clothing. We decided to host a mending event and offer free clothing repairs to encourage folks to extend the life of their favorite clothes.

Thanks to Patagonia Cambridge and Homme Repair for partnering and collaborating with us and to our terrific community for showing up! We had a great turnout and a lot of fun at our Mend It May event. It was great to see some familiar faces, meet new people, and share more about what we do at Second Chances. We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future.

HELP A NEIGHBOR IN NEED

THIS SEASON

Last year, our generous community made it possible for Second Chances to deliver free, empowering, much-needed clothing to more than 700 neighbors, in addition to distributing 4,000 pairs of new socks and underwear, in partnership with 25+ local shelter and service providers.

This spring, we’re hoping we can count on you to help us meet our $50,000 spring fundraising goal by June 30, so we can continue to support neighbors of all ages, sizes, and genders with free clothing, shoes, and accessories. When you give to a small, local organization like Second Chances, the impact is almost immediate – today, someone in our community is receiving clothing because of you.

HOST A

CLOTHING DRIVE

Do you work for a company or belong to a group that wants to support other community members? Now is a wonderful time to plan ahead and coordinate a fall or winter clothing drive, as September through January is a very busy time of year.

When you plan ahead, Second Chances can provide you with a marketing tool kit, including a special webpage with your logo and personalized posters you can print or email.

We're grateful to our clothing drive partners and volunteers, who host more than 50 drives each year to support folks in our community.
