Fall 2023 Community Report

Reflecting on the past year, Second Chances is grateful for our community's support. Your generosity creates a safety net for people in need when they have a crisis or limited resources. Your support delivers warm coats and properly fitting shoes. Your compassion ensures our neighbors have the clothing they need to support their families and themselves. Our work is not just delivering apparel, it's empowering folks to put their best foot forward in interviews and workplaces and encouraging people to pursue their goals and increase their well-being.

Thank you to our awesome clothing drive hosts! In the past few months, our colleagues at NEPC, Hillman Homes, Microsoft, YWCA Cambridge, Omega Therapeutics, Steve McKenna and the Home Advantage Team, Temple Isaiah, and Northeastern University Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity collected more than 4,828 pounds of clothing, shoes, and accessories to support folks in need in our community.

Gentle Giant Moving Company has been our treasured partner for almost 18 years. They’ve moved our clothing donation bins - pro bono - and with grace, skill, and compassion every single time.

Second Chances is the only program in our community providing free and empowering clothing, shoes, and accessories to nearly 600 homeless and lower-income women, men, and children annually while recycling and reusing more than 300,000 pounds of textiles each year.
