Our generous community makes it possible for Second Chances to support neighbors with empowering clothing, shoes, and accessories while they work through challenges. Alyssa received clothing when she was living in temporary housing with little income.

Alyssa said, “The slight monthly income I had was paying my rent. My housing situation was very unstable and unsafe. I had little clothing and what I did have was not in good condition. Thankfully my housing specialist helped me to receive some clothes from Second Chances, including a wonderful winter coat, which offered a glimmer of hope in a rather dark moment in my life. It lifted my spirits and helped me move forward and continue to work toward a permanent, safe housing situation. I could put on the clothes and feel better about myself. It gave me more confidence to interact with many people in order to resolve my housing/life crisis.”

“Like most people, until this crisis, I never imagined what some new clothes could do, especially how they can lift someone when they feel so down and hopeless. The winter coat kept me warm in many more ways than bodily.”

Through May 31, the Arbella Insurance Foundation will generously match all contributions 1:1 up to $10,000. 

This year we're on track to serve 77% more neighbors in need of free clothing than last year. The increasing costs of housing, utilities, transportation, food, and healthcare have a major impact on homeless and low-income members of our community. Can our neighbors count on you?

Second Chances is the only program in our community providing free and empowering clothing, shoes, and accessories to nearly 500 homeless and lower-income women, men, and children annually while recycling and reusing almost 300,000 pounds of textiles each year.
